Planning and Ordering Islands

Let us help you design and order the right floating wetland solution to improve water quality and ecological health for your pond, lake, or wetland. Please contact us by filling out the form, emailing us at info@midwestfloatingisland, or calling us at 651-379-2480.

We’ll work with you to define your budget and identify your habitat or water quality goals. Each of our islands is custom-made to meet your specific needs.

Shape and Size:

Our popular shapes are kidney, naturalized, and organic, but we can create custom shapes as well. Our standard floating wetland islands are available in widths of either 5 feet or 6.6 feet and can be connected to form larger islands, like a 10’ x 10’ structure.

Plant Holes:

We generally space plant holes every 8 inches, which supports dense planting and a strong ecosystem. Some customers prefer fewer plant holes, depending on their wildlife goals or budget.

Most customers source their plants from local native nurseries. To ensure your plants are well-established by launch, we recommend ordering at least 8 weeks ahead. We’ll guide you through the process when we talk.

Height and Buoyancy:

Our standard islands are 7.5 inches deep, with internal buoyancy that supports plants and provides a habitat for millions of microorganisms to break down pollutants in the water. We can increase the island’s height to create nesting habitats for birds such as swans or loons or add buoyancy to better handle waves.

Custom Design and Lead Times:

All islands are custom-made. Lead times typically vary between 2 and 8 weeks, depending on the size and complexity of your project, as well as the volume of orders we are processing. Most customers request delivery between April 15 and September 1.

Finalizing the Details:

Once we’ve finalized the size and shape for your project, we’ll help you set up as a customer in our system and generate a formal invoice. If your organization qualifies for tax exemption, please provide the relevant exemption documents.

Shipping and Delivery:

You can pick up your floating wetland in Minnesota, or we can arrange delivery via semi-truck directly to your waterbody. We’ll work with you to ensure everything arrives safely and on time.
